Class: A project-based course on narrative character design and world building. We’ll dive into the character creation process from thumbnail to final concept sheet with a focus on developing a character’s storytelling and finding their individuality through design. Learn to fully develop a character concept with research, iteration, and in-depth exploration to expand your professional portfolio.

Considerations for successful thumbnailing, ideation, and development
Exploration into what makes a character design compelling
Considerations for narrative storytelling through visual design and set dressing
Material List: Paper and Pencil/Pen. Laptop optional. For homework Photoshop and tablet

Brandon Vuong is a character specialized concept artist working in the games industry. Inspired by games of his childhood like The Legend of Zelda Majora’s Mask, he looks to develop rich storytelling through concept design with a goal of bringing joy to a new generation of gamers. His professional work encompasses Sega mobile titles, Sixfoot’s Dreadnought, and Epic Games’ Fortnite. He currently is a Concept Art Lead at Riot Games.
